Air Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria has took over as Deputy Chief of the Air Staff, a post that oversees the critical procurement process of the force. An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Bhadauria was commissioned in the IAF in June 1980. Prior to taking over as DCAS, Air Marshal Bhadauria was Senior Air Staff Officer at Central Air
Command of IAF.

A Sikh-American attorney has been appointed as the top prosecutor in the most populous county in New Jersey, becoming the first South Asian to occupy the post in the state. Gurbir Grewal, 42, was sworn in as acting Bergen County prosecutor on January 4, succeeding John Molinelli whose 14-year long tenure has ended.
Filippo Grandi takes charge as UN High Commissioner for Refugees
Filippo Grandi, a UN official who has worked in refugee and political affairs in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, began his five-year term as UN High Commissioner for Refugees on January 1, succeeding António Guterres. Grandi, 58, who is from Italy, has worked in international affairs for over 30 years, 27 of them with the United Nations.
AB Khare appointed CMD of Madras Fertilizers
The Centre has appointed AB Khare as the Chairman and Managing Director of the state-run Madras Fertilzers for a five-year term. Khare will succeed I Vijay Kumar. Khare was previously working with state—owned fertiliser firm Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers as Chief General Manager (Commercial).
Pavan Kapoor appointed India’s new ambassador to Israel
Senior diplomat Pavan Kapoor has been appointed India’s ambassador to strategically important Israel, where he will succeed Jaideep Sarkar. Mr Kapoor, a 1990 batch Indian Foreign Service Officer, is currently India’s High Commissioner in Mozambique capital Maputo.

Capgemini appoints Srinivas Kandula as CEO of India operations
French IT services firm Capgemini has appointed Srinivas Kandula as the chief executive officer of its India operations. Kandula played a key role in the acquisition of Patni by iGate in 2011, and of iGate by Capgemini in 2015. Capgemini had bought iGate in a $4- billion cash deal.
DHL Express appoints new Asia Pacific CEO
Global logistics provider DHL Express has named a new Chief Executive Officer for Asia Pacific region that includes India. Ken Lee, who has an experience of over 20
years in the logistics industry, including 18 years at DHL will succeed Jerry Hsu, who is retiring after an illustrious career with DHL Express since 2001.
Kamal Hassan and Gautam Ghosh added in Shyam Benegal committee
Actor Kamal Hassan and director Gautam Ghosh has been included in the Shyam Benegal committee. The Ministry of Information and Broadcast formed Shyam Benegal committee on January 1, 2016 to take a look at the functioning of the Central Board of Film Certification. The committee was formed to specifically provide a holistic framework and enable
the members of CBFC to discharge their responsibilities keeping in view this framework.
Dinesh Sharma elected to board of directors of AIIB
India, one of the founding members of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), has been elected to the board of directors of the China-sponsored AIIB, which is expected to begin loan approvals before the end of this year. Dinesh Sharma, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Finance has been elected to the 12- member board for which a secret ballot was held. This will be the first board of directors for the new bank in which 57 members joined as founding members.
Tata Motors Appoints Guenter Butschek as CEO & MD
Homegrown auto major Tata Motors has announced appointment of ex-Airbus COO Guenter Butschek as its Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director, two years after the death of its former MD Karl Slym. Butschek will lead all operations of Tata Motors in India and in international markets, including South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia and South Africa. Jaguar Land Rover would continue to be managed by its Chief Executive Officer and Director, Ralf Speth, who is also on the Board of Tata Motors.
PayU appoints Laurent Le Moal as new global CEO
PayU, one of the world’s largest payment services platforms, has appointed Laurent Le Moal as its new global CEO. PayU has operations in 16 countries and is part of the leading global media and internet group, Naspers. LeMoal would be reporting directly to Naspers’ Group CEO, Bob Van Dijk.

Government of India has appointed Gurdeep Singh, currently head of Gujarat State Electricity Corp, as the chairman and managing director of NTPC Ltd, India’s biggest power producer. Singh, 51, will be the first person to be appointed to the top job at a Maharatna company through a search committee route.
